A-Littu Food Factory

Transforming Traditional African Foods into a Sustainable Delight!

Our Story

A-Littu Food

A-Littu Food Factory is a food processing company that is a for profit social enterprise set up in the year 2022 as a means to support and add value to African indigenous foods. We began with the African indigenous vegetables as our flagship product after we witnessed continuous erratic weather patterns including an over supply of the same during the wet season that led to farmers fetching extremely low prices or having to discard what was left. Despite these climate changes, the African leafy vegetables have proven to withstand the pressure unlike the exotic greens and are proving to be the better option on the kitchens or tables of most consumers.

A-Littu Food Factory has witnessed the demand for African Indigenous Greens rapidly expanding with a lucrative market found in urban centers and farmers who would normally growing for subsistence were delving into commercial production. The vegetables are an important component of food security and high nutritive value compared to the exotic vegetables thereby preservation was key to make the produce available throughout the year while transforming the lives of the farmers with increased income.

A-Littu Food Factory therefore began its journey by going back to our roots by preserving these foods and transforming the leafy vegetables from fresh to dry by solar drying and packaging for convenience and ready to use by anyone.

Mission

Women are at the heart of what we do therefore ours is a mission where the small holder farmers who supply to our facility (majority are women), their lives are transformed and their needs are met. To the public we want to to provide products that are not only relatable to the consumers out there but also traceable for them, of good quality, convenient to busy family, individuals and/starters, and tastes great if cooked right!

Our Values

It has always been important for us to recognise the farmers that have worked the land for centuries in sustaining the traditions of farming these African Indigenous Greens, typically grown free of any pesticide or chemical use and thereby preserving its nutritional value to the fullest.

Health problems being on the rise, it is essential that we advocate for the continual consumption and correct preparation of these vegetables so that our bodies benefit from their full nutritional value.

Sustainability

Our goal is to empower as many African farmers as possible and grow with them as they grow with us. We will continue the rise as we pull and synergize our outgrower network.
